They are commercially grown in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Guava is a rich source of minerals, fibre and dietary antioxidants. The Guava fruit that this plant, Psidium Guajava bears are often rough from the outer portion, but sweet from inside. Mostly rounded and colour varies from yellow, maroon or green when completely ripe. These are rich sweet fruits that are consumed as fresh desert fruit. And in regions of South America, these fruits are used in traditional medicines.
Psidium Guajava are easy to care for.
- They perform well when kept in presence of full sunlight or even in partial shade. Water them moderately enough to keep their soil moist, but not wet. The soil on which they are supposed to be planted must be well-drained. To ensure their healthy growth ideally try to manage temperature somewhere around 10 to 27 degree Celsius. And in terms of feeding, use any organic fertilizers.
Edible and medicinal uses of Guava.
- Once it gets ripe, their fruits can be consumed fresh. They are rich sweet fruit with tasty pulp inside. These fruits are highly nutritious and consist of rich sources of minerals, vitamins, fibre and dietary antioxidants. And in South American regions they have been used in their folk medicines in treating dysentery, diarrhoea, hypertension, caries, cough, gastroenteritis and even diabetes.
